South Australia’s Limestone Coast region shone brightly in BeefLedger’s recent China Showcase III Program.
Beef, wine and the region’s next generation of knowledge industry workers were all on display.
The region, located in the State’s South East, was the source of some of the beef and wine enjoyed by guests in Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Guangzhou.
Blue Lake Station Black Angus
The Regional beef was the blockchain-credentialed black angus produced by Mike Famularo at Blue Lake Station. Blue Lake Station also featured in the November ABC Landline Program covering the BeefLedger journey to date.

We featured the BLS tenderloin and cube roll at our various events. The tenderness and richness of flavour was oft-commented upon, together with the leaner characteristics of the product.

Amazing raw materials, produced with respect and care, coupled with culinary artistry ensured the Limestone Coast region put its best foot forward. The beef was prepared by the expert hand of our #steakmaestro Chris Wade, and complemented by Chris’ range of flavours.
And if didn’t end with the beef!
Coonawarra Reds
About 25 minutes drive from Blue Lake Station is Di Giorgio’s Family Wines. Di Giorgio’s Shiraz was the featured regional pairing for the BLS cube roll.

Digital Stories – connecting communities
If food and wine is the common language, the BeefLedger Showcase Program also saw our BeefLegends I project, involving the work of students from Mt Gambier High, showcased to audiences across China.

We are continually exploring ways in which we are creating new circuits of digital value. The role of video-based storytelling is one of the areas we are investigating deeply. BeefLegends I has focused on curating the story from the perspective of the “producer community”, and the involvement of local students aimed to achieve two objectives:
- Deliver novel perspectives with a strong sense of grounded authenticity; and
- Open up a conversation about how digitalisation creates new employment opportunities in regional communities that are intimately linked to the traditional industries of a region.
We are hoping the students can visit our digital team at QUT in 2020, courtesy of the support provided by District Council of Grant.
Thanks to our Gold Sponsor
We thank District Council of Grant for their support of the Showcase Program. There’s much in the region that screams “excellence”. We look forward to working with the region to drive growth in regional provenance value on the back of blockchain technology credentialing.
